Set in the heart of the scenic countryside, the Giant Pumpkin Festival is a beloved event in Heidelberg, Western Cape, just 275 km from Cape Town. As one of the most anticipated festivals in the Hessequa region, it promises a weekend filled with fun, competition, and entertainment for the whole family.

The festival kicks off with a Golf Day at the beautiful Heidelberg Golf Club (Thursday, 27 March), followed by two action-packed days at the Heidelberg Showgrounds (Friday, 28 March and Saturday, 29 March). Festival highlights include a 4×4 competition, a bowls tournament, and exciting live performances from well-known artists. Kids can look forward to amazing entertainment, while festival goers can enjoy delicious food, local crafts, and much more.

Of course, the star of the show is the giant pumpkin weigh-off, with a grand prize of R17,500 for the heaviest pumpkin! Break the South African record, and you’ll walk away with a massive R30,000.
